LCQOV Quilt Top Preparation
We are proud of our QOV's. After all, we remember "whom" we quilt for - the men and women who stood in harms way that we might enjoy the freedoms we hold close today. We follow the QOVF Standards of Excellence found in our Policy and Procedure Manual. Below is a check list when turning in a QOV top to our group:

We are proud of our QOV's. After all, we remember "whom" we quilt for - the men and women who stood in harms way that we might enjoy the freedoms we hold close today. We follow the QOVF Standards of Excellence found in our Policy and Procedure Manual. Below is a check list when turning in a QOV top to our group:
- Make sure the top is well pressed. Press from both the back and the front.
- Make sure there are no twisted seams and the quilt lays flat.
- Trim any threads which have been caught in the seams. Trim any long threads from the back and front sides of the quilt.
- Provide a paper with your name, city and state and pin it to the top of the quilt.
- Measure the quilt - width (side to side) and length (top to bottom). Add the information to the paper.
- Use a lint roller to remove ALL pet hair. If you are a smoker, hang the top outside for 3-4 days.
- Fold the quilt with the RIGHT side OUT. This avoids additional raveling of seams.
- Fold bottom to top and once again. Then quarter fold the width.
- Include binding. We prefer 2 1/4" strips seamed diagonally and seams PRESSED OPEN. Carefully press the strips in half making sure the raw edges are even. Fold the binding and contain it in a baggy.
- Quilt may be dropped at Becky's Fabrics with a notation "FOR LCQOV"

Hospice Quilts – We’re asking your help to build a small inventory of quilts for QOV Hospice awards, which are made to veterans who’ve not already received a QOV. The size requirement for a finished quilt is 50-55” x 60-65” to better accommodate a hospital bed (even at home), a twin-size bed (care centers), or for use with a wheelchair. You may leave a finished top at Becky’s Fabrics, clearly labeled for Sharon Ledbetter, and along with your name, phone # and the measurements of the top. If you want to do the binding, please note this, too. Let Sharon know by email at [email protected] or by phone or text at 509-769-7530. This is for Hospice tops only, all other tops still go through Vickie Storey.
