About Lewis Clark Quilts of Valor (LCQOV):
Lewiston Clark Quilts of Valor is a local group and was founded in 2009 by Sharon Ledbetter and Marilyn Kucera. Through the dedicated efforts of volunteers, sponsorships of community and business partners, with the support of and appreciation from of the many veterans organizations in the LC Valley, LCQOV is now 66 members strong. LCQOV is based in Lewiston and represents Idaho with the QOV Foundation.
Quilts of Valor Awards: LCQOV embraces the mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation, as well as the inclusive philosophy of the QOVF Board of Directors—“any person who has served or is serving has been touched by war, in ways which may not be visible.” LCQOV Awards are made without judgment, rather, we reach out with acceptance and appreciation for the service and sacrifices of our military personnel and veterans to protect and defend the United States of America.
Geographic Area: LCQOV includes members in the communities of Lewiston, Clarkston, Asotin, Pomeroy, Genesee, Colton, and Dayton, as well as several longarm and machine quilters who live outside of the immediate area. The current QOVF Idaho State Coordinator is a member of LCQOV.
Membership: Group membership is open to volunteers of all skill levels within our geographic area who accept the QOVF Mission and Core Values with the intention of providing volunteer time and services to support LCQOV in the fulfillment of this mission. Membership dues are $10.00 per year, payment of dues to join LCQOV are made to the Group Leader only. Renewal of membership may be completed online, through the QOVF website.
Activities: Monthly Sew Days are held on the first Monday of each month, unless it falls on a holiday, then it is moved to the second Monday. Meeting place/time is the First Church of God at 910 Sycamore St. in Clarkston, from 9AM to 3PM. Bring your projects/machine/tools, your own lunch and beverages, and join the fellowship and fun. Occasionally, an LCQOV Awards Ceremony might be added to a sew day. Semi-Annual Luncheon/Business Meetings are held in the spring and fall with location/date/time TBA. A monthly newsletter to our members contains additional information on activities, events and other news.
Awards: LCQOV members participate in multiple QOV award opportunities throughout the year—including large-group awards attended by family and friends, individual one-on-one awards with family and friends, Hospice awards as needed, and awards to graduates of Veterans Court in Lewiston.
